LAST CALL: Don't miss Jan. 13th!

We have a great event coming up Sunday, presenting WGA strike captain Erich Hoeber and writer-producer Floyd Byars. Each have great stories to tell. IMPORTANT: Note that we're at the McCadden Theatre this Sunday, not at Raleigh Studios. This is a 66-seat theater, and we already have 50 RSVPs so don't delay. We're going to have a great time! FREE with RSVP at www.ScreenPlayLab.com

Erich will explain what we can all do in support of the WGA strike, such as going out on the strike lines. Even if you're not a writer, this is a great cause and a great way to get to know head writers and showrunners.

Floyd Byars was putting together "There Goes the Neighborhood" when director Bob Clark ("A Christmas Story") was tragically killed by a drunk driver on Pacific Highway. Floyd will talk about his career and how he put this film back on track, bringing on board as executive producer Garry Marshall ('Pretty Woman').

To everyone who showed support by coming out to COMEDY WALK this week as host, performer, camera crew, show wrangler or as audience, a big THANK YOU! This is the first time I've executive produced a project that had six simultaneous live shows, and I really appreciate all the help and support. COMEDY WALK is a hit, and we're doing it again on Feb. 14th Valentines Day. I haven't had time to read all our press yet, but you can find links here:

Needing COMEDY WALK show wranglers and Mini-DV camera

FREE COMEDY WALK show tomorrow night. Amazing program line-up:

www.comedywalk.com

Can you help?

I need a few more show wranglers for COMEDY WALK. These are volunteers who help make things run smoothly at each of the six venues. Needed from 7-10pm Thursday night in downtown Los Angeles.

We're shooting documentary footage at the six venues. If you have a Mini-DV camcorder and can come tape the show that would be great. I don't have enough videographers to cover all the venues, yet. I'll provide tapes. If you have lights or mikes that would help, too.

Garrett Morris, one of the original Saturday Night Live cast, kicks off COMEDY WALK at his 500-seat Downtown Comedy Club. Rick Overton closes the show at the nearby 1,100-seat Palace Theatre. COMEDY WALK performers have appeared on ABC, BET, Carpoolers, Comedy Central Live at Gotham, Comedy Central Premium Blend, Comedy Central Stage, Comic Groove, Comedy Store, Comic View, Comic's Unleashed, E! Entertainment Network, HBO Def Jam, The Ice House, The Improv, Laugh Factory, National Lampoon Radio, The Playboy Morning Show, MTV, Pushing Daisies, Saturday Night Live, Seinfeld, Sirius, XM Radio, and elsewhere.

COMEDY WALK is the biggest, funniest comedy walk in the world. 30 comedy acts performing 6 simultaneous 90-minute variety shows at 6 venues near Main and 5th Streets in Los Angeles. Thursday, Jan. 10th, 2008, 8pm to 9:30pm. FREE!

COMEDY WALK gets the word out

COMEDY WALK Hosts and Talent Director Selected...

The five COMEDY WALK Stage Hosts for Jan. 10th, 2008, are ScreenPlayLab members Wendy Carrillo, Taji Coleman, Kimberly Douglas, Claudine Guerrero, and Jim McCaffree. The talent director is Lawrin Goulston Salazar of the LOS ANGELES COMEDY FESTIVAL. To apply as a performer, follow the PARTICIPATE link at www.comedywalk.com. And, I still need help filling out the five film crews I'm directing covering the event.

COMEDY WALK Gets the Word Out...

Many of you have your own press contacts and email lists. Please pass this announcement along to anyone interested in comedy. Thank you!

COMEDY WALK brings laughter to the streets of downtown Los Angeles.

Beverly Hills, CA, January 2, 2008 – COMEDY WALK kicks off on January 10th, 2008, from 8pm to 9:30pm, in downtown Los Angeles. The FREE monthly event presents more than 30 comedy acts performing at five simultaneous venues in the historic downtown’s Gallery Row and Old Bank District in the neighborhood of Main and 5th streets. The monthly 30-act COMEDY WALK event is the lead-up to the massive 300-act LOS ANGELES COMEDY FESTIVAL coming to downtown in November 2008.

Comedian Rick Overton, who's appeared in episodes of Seinfeld and won an Emmy writing for Dennis Miller Live, is one of the COMEDY WALK performers. "I like the whole COMEDY WALK idea", says Overton. "In virtually any other city, walking means that you are healthy and have somewhere important to go. In Los Angeles, it means that something has gone horribly wrong with your career. I like to walk to my favorite diner. When I get home, there'll be messages on my service: 'Hey man, I was driving by and saw you walking down Ventura today. I just hate to see you out there all on foot like that. Is everything okay? Do you need one of my cars? Call me... I'll be on the treadmill watching Dr. Phil on the flat screen, but I'll leave my cell phone on.' Sheesh... COMEDY WALK is the healthiest thing comics have done in years."
