Robin's Party/Mixer on Dec 17th

Come join us for our last best event of 2007, my birthday party! Don't miss it!

RSVP online at www.screenplaylab.com.

I'm grateful for all the friends and business associates I've met through ScreenPlayLab. Many of the good things that happened for me this year are related to ScreenPlayLab. I have more exciting things happening, stuff that I can't talk about here yet, but that I can share when I see you. I hope everyone can make it to my party, but understand if you can't with the holidays and so forth. I have everything, so gifts are optional.

Although it's my birthday, it's also a mixer, a chance to meet with friends and share industry success stories. Come get together with other upbeat, positive attitude writers, actors and filmmakers. Starts at 7pm or as soon as you can get there. Restaurant closes at 9pm. Pitfire Pizza, next to The Writers Store, 2018 Westwood Blvd. Westwood.

It's the cold and flu season. If you're one of the unlucky ones, please stay home and get better.

Thank you Writer-Producer Brian Herskowitz...

We had a great event on Sunday at Raleigh Studios with Artists/Media Co-op writer-producer Brian Herskowitz [IMDB]. Brian talked about his projects and shared his insights on the writers strike from his perspective of experiencing the strike in 1988. I also thank Raleigh Studios for their support.

Thank you writer Lucy Fazely...

Also this past Sunday Dec. 9th, ScreenPlayLab's reading was "Peggy in Stitches", an animated sitcom script by Lucy Fazely. Actors read two versions of the script. We had feedback from the actors and audience of what they liked and suggestions how to improve it. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Writer-Producer Brian Herskowitz on Dec. 9th

Our speaker this Sunday is Brian Herskowitz, a television writer who's now a parter in a NY production company. This is our last speaker scheduled for 2007. Don't miss it! RSVP online at www.screenplaylab.com. That and much more news below...

If you missed the 70th Birthday AFTRA celebration and screening on Nov. 29th, you missed a heart-warming screening and discussion with celebrities of what having a union means to them. You might not know AFTRA represents radio talent and singers, not only TV talent.

Pitching Doug Draizin on KABC Marc Cohen Talk Radio Dec. 8th...

Producer Doug Draizin, who made 'Fools Rush In' with Salma Hayek and Matthew Perry, will be on the radio discussing his website TrueStories4Hollywood.com. It helps market true stories to Hollywood. [Of course, my recommendation is always to get an agent to represent you, but if you only have a story rather than a screenplay, that's not feasible.] Callers can phone 800-222-5222 between 10am and 11am on December 8th to share their best true stories that they'd like made into movies. That's live on MARC COHEN ON COMPUTERS AND TECHNOLOGY on KABC TALK RADIO 790 AM. The best personal true story will be given a free posting on TrueStories4Hollywood.com (regularly $100).

Jeff Gund's HOLIDAY PARTY on Dec. 8th...

INFOLIST presents an "Old Hollywood Glamour" party. Come dressed to the nines or as your favorite old Hollywood star, and have a ball! (Hollywood Glamour attire requested but not required.) At Memphis, the last remaining residential mansion on Hollywood Blvd. Saturday, December 8th, 2007. 7:30pm - 2am. 6541 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. RSVP to jeffsviplist@mindspring.com by 4pm Saturday. Include your FULL NAME in the BODY of the email, and the name or date of the event you are RSVPing to!

WGA Strike Captains speaking on Dec. 9th...

The Scriptwriters Network presents WGA Strike Captains Dan Stroncak, David Wyatt, Marjorie David and Ashley Gable on how the negotiations are going and what you can do to help. Electric Lodge, 1416 Electric Ave, Venice. Doors open at noon. Presentation 12:30pm. No RSVP required. FREE. www.scriptwritersnetwork.org

Writer-Producer Brian Herskowitz and a reading on Dec. 9th...

Artists/Media Co-op Writer-Producer Brian Herskowitz [IMDB]. Brian has many projects in development through his NY production company. Brian heads Boston University's Hollywood Internship program for Screenwriters. Brian teaches screenwriting online for UCLA Extension and was the sitcom instructor for Writer's Boot Camp. Brian was a writer on Hercules and Blossom and was associate producer for Tour of Duty. And right before Brian speaks, we have another great Fresh Pages Workshop Reading with Actors. This week it's "Peggy in Stitches", an animated sitcom script by Lucy Fazely. Peggy decides to make a fancy quilt. Hank and Bobby suffer the consequences. We'll be reading two versions of the same script, followed by actors and audience feedback that answers two vital questions. What did you like? How would you make it better? Raleigh Studios, 5300 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood. Sunday, Dec. 9th, 2007, 3pm to 6pm,
Networking at 2:30pm, FREE with RSVP at www.screenplaylab.com.

Robin Rowe's birthday party on Monday, Dec. 17th...

It's ScreenPlayLab Co-founder Robin Rowe's Birthday Party! Another year older already? Come join in the spanking or at least pizza. Starts at 7pm or as soon as you can get there. Presents optional. If you're one of the many artists who's been helped to get an agent, maybe you want to bring something extra...at least extra happiness to share. Pitfire Pizza, next to The Writers Store, 2018 Westwood Blvd. Westwood. RSVP at www.screenplaylab.com.

ABC Disney Fellowship Update...

Many ScreenPlayLab members entered the fellowship this year. As I'd feared, due to the writers strike the fellowship has been temporarily suspended. However, all 30 of the TV writer fellowship finalists have been contacted. If you submitted for a TV fellowship and haven't been contacted, then you weren't selected. If you submitted for a feature fellowship, your status is unknown because judging wasn't as far along when it was suspended. Many fellowship and internship programs are being shut down by the strike, not only ABC Disney.

Robin Rowe and Gabrielle Pantera chosen as keynote speakers...

Gabrielle and I will be keynote speakers at FOSDEM in Brussels in February.

Robin Rowe's sketch chosen by Sacred Fools...

My comedy sketch "What color is your underwear?" has been selected by the Sacred Fools theater company to be performed there sometime in January or February.

Join Jeff Gund's Info List...

Jeff Gund is a musician who started a little email list to tell his friends about parties and job openings. It keeps growing and growing. I remember when the Gund List was a Hollywood secret, that you only got on the list if someone referred you to Jeff personally. It's now called the Info List, and you can register for free on Jeff's website:
