Reminder - see you the 29th

Hi. EVENT REMINDER!

Got your RSVP. See you Wednesday night in Beverly Hills. If you can't make it please just email me a little note so we can cross off printing a badge for you.

I like to talk with as many people as I can during a mixer. Don't hang back waiting for when I'm not chatting with anyone. Please come right up and say hi as soon as you see me.

Some people are shy. The best thing to talk about when meeting someone new is good news in your life and appreciation for those who helped you achieve that. That reinforces that you're a winner, someone desirable to be around.

Please take a moment on the way to the mixer to contemplate the many good things that have happened for you recently so you're ready to talk about them. Some people have trouble thinking of these things because of the voice of their inner critic, that nothing they do feels good enough. The easiest way to overcome that is to express appreciation for the people who want to help you and who enrich your life through their love and support.

I try to recall everyone's name, but with more than 1,900 members that's hard. You name is your brand. It's important that people can recall your name. Make it easy. Slip in your name during conversation. For instance, I might say, "...so then she asked me, 'Robin, why did you write a screenplay about a bear who starts forest fires?'". Say your name at least three times during a conversation. People will remember your name better if they hear it more often, and you'll remember their names better if you say them more too.

ScreenplayLab Mixer on Aug. 29th...

Coming up next, the fantastic ScreenplayLab Beverly Hills film industry mixer! If we sit at home we might as well be back in Kansas, right? Walk up to anyone interesting, make eye contact, and make a personal introduction. You can confidently say, "Hi. May I introduce myself? My name is...". Everyone in the group is friendly and wants to meet you.

Mingle with working screenwriters, actors and filmmakers. Sharky's Mexican Grill, 435 N. Beverly Dr., Beverly Hills. We're in the back room. Park in the city garage across the street by Crate & Barrel for $2 after 6pm. Aug 29th, 6pm-9pm and maybe later. Inexpensive drinks and Mexican food. Free admittance with RSVP using online form at www.ScreenplayLab.com.
