Hi. We're excited to have director Buddy Bregman speaking next Sunday. He just signed a 12-picture deal and is making a bio-pic on Greta Garbo called GARBO. As someone who's sold more than 30 network shows, Buddy's going to have great tips how to we can improve our pitches. Sign up at www.ScreenplayLab.com. Free.

Also in the same Sunday session, Pitch Clinic with Robin Rowe (that's me) as the moderator. Select volunteers get the opportunity to test their pitch in front of a live audience. I give encouragement, tips for improvement, and moderate feedback from the crowd. Everyone says they learn a lot from these sessions. Want to be selected to pitch? Email me your logline. Preference given to upbeat commercial projects. You can also pitch yourself. Note that we are an open public forum. You're responsible to take whatever steps you feel necessary to protect your work, such as copyright or WGA registration.

Manager-producer Jon Brown, RPM talent agent Angela Hutchinson, talent agent seeking new talent, comedy writer Gene Perret, and writers Ed Solomon and Jeff Nathanson are all in the news you can read below.

Thank you Jeanne Thompson of Sunrise Entertainment...

We had a fantastic session yesterday with Jeanne Thompson from Sunrise Entertainment. She told us entertaining stories from her career. She shared many helpful tips, for example, what studio is looking for a Halloween picture (MGM). She mentioned her promotion to head of development. She explained why her production company chose to leave a first-look deal to go independent. She talked about the spec market for direct-to-DVD writers ($75k per script) and about using Walmart as a distribution outlet. If you weren't there you really missed it.
