LAST CALL: Mixer Monday 3/16 Beverly Hills

Hi. Exciting details about our next mixer and many other industry events is below...

We have another great mixer coming up Monday night, so put Dancing with the Stars on TiVo and come on out to Beverly Hills. It's going to be a great night! FREE. RSVP now at www.screenplaylab.com

ScreenPlayLab mixers are truly a mix. It's actors, directors, producers, writers, composers, managers, entertainment attorneys.... You'll find people in all aspects of the industry who are incredibly friendly and outgoing, who take the effort to talk to people they don't know. There isn't another mixer like this in Hollywood. Everyone at the mixer is "good in the room" or is learning how.

What can you expect? You can expect to feel welcome and enjoy speaking to any ScreenPlayLab member. ScreenPlayLab as a group knows how to tell a good story and how to draw out others to talk. You can expect the conversation to be more sparkling than the latest Octo-mom tabloid news. And, there won't be complaining about the big bad Hollywood "them", because that would be complaining about ourselves. We are the industry.

So how is it that ScreenPlayLab people can be so outgoing, confident and entertaining as a group? One secret is "the opener" question. As you know, everyone likes to talk about themselves, yet nobody likes to feel interrogated or put on the spot. When meeting someone new, instead of leading with the harsh direct question such as, "What do you do?", try a how-do-you-feel opener like, "Did you have a great weekend?". The answer may be "Yes", "No" or "Same old". Engage with your answer: "Wow, that's great!" or "Oh, no! That's terrible!". What about the so-so answer? Say, "That's great! It's wonderful to have a quiet weekend to unwind." Next ask, "What happened?". Engage, react, be enthusiastic.
