CASTING CALL:

Equity waiver production of the drama ROMEO & JULIUS, written and dir. by Tess Smith. Dan Decker prod. Proceeds benefit BODY POSITIVE, an H.I.V. & AIDS Research and Resource Center. At HOLLYWOOD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Court Theater. Performances Nov 2, 2007 for three consecutive weekends in November. Including Thanksgiving. Rehearsals in Oct TBD.

Seeking:

JULIUS: 25-35 Existentially challenged hypochondriac with an artistic flair. A cross between Woody Allen and RuPaul.

ROMEO: 25-35 Even tempered, logical and rational.

PARIS: 22-26 Perfect hair. Perfect tan. Perfect bitch. Quintessential trust fund baby.

Below CHARACTERS are BASED ON HISTORICAL FIGURES:

ALLEN GINSBERG 45-70 Beat Poet and counterculture icon. His famous poem, HOWL, led to a landmark obscenity trial.

GERTRUDE STEIN 45-60 American ex-patriot living in France. Novelist, poet and patron of the arts. Friend to Picasso, Matisse, Hemingway, etc. Known for her line: "A rose is a rose is a rose."

ALICE B. TOKLAS 45-60 Lifetime partner of Gertrude Stein. Gained widespread attention when Stein published, "The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas" in 1933.
