10,000 B.C. and Miss Pettigrew Lives

Latest News: I'm on the cover of the British magazine LinuxFormat. COMEDY WALK is this week. Don't miss my show! I've started editing COMEDY WALK video in Final Cut Pro. My latest screenplay, the martial arts comedy BOOK OF Z, is being read by a dozen producers. My goal to make that a hundred. If you know a producer looking for a martial arts comedy, let me know.

Gabrielle moved her office this week, is now on a studio lot. As book critic for British Weekly, she just reviewed Nancy Atherton's "Aunt Dimity: Vampire Hunter" novel.

Please Post COMEDY WALK Mini-Poster...

If you can, please put the mini-poster for my next COMEDY WALK show in your lunch room, coffee shop, and anywhere people hang out:

Robin on Cover of LinuxFormat...

Interviewed about my work with CinePaint, software used on the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings films. I haven't read the article, yet. Hope it's good. On newsstands everywhere.

Next COMEDY WALK March 13th

Hi. Lots of news to catch up on.

Gabrielle and I are back from Brussels after being keynote speakers at the FOSDEM computer conference there. We had 500 to 800 people in our audience. We talked about Linux in the film industry. What a great time! Brussels is the capital of Europe, a beautiful city with great chocolate. We stayed at a lovely B&B hidden above an elegant shopping gallery. It's so well hidden we almost couldn't find it!

If you can, please post the flyer for my next COMEDY WALK show in your lunch room, coffee shop, and anywhere people hang out:

My review at Hollywood Today of THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL made the front page of news.google.com this week. "Boleyn: Seducing Sisters Kill a Queen":

I completed final revisions to my latest screenplay (my fourth). BOOK OF Z is a feature martial arts comedy set in Los Angeles Koreatown. Max, a student at the local chiropractic college, gains unwanted ninja powers after being given an old book. To defend himself, he must learn Tae Kwon Do from master Lot and his beautiful daughter Nichi, descendants of the family line that's protected The Book for centuries. With every ninja in Koreatown chasing him, will mild-mannered Max save the day? It calls for an American male lead and a mostly Asian cast.

My agent Karl Sanger sent BOOK OF Z out today to many production companies, studios and producers. Some places he won't be sending it are New Line, MTV Films, and Nickelodeon Films, which are unfortunately gone in everything but name. New Line is reportedly having a 75% staff reduction and closing their NY and L.A. offices, the survivors moving to the lot at Warner Bros. At Paramount, MTV Films and Nickelodeon Films are reportedly losing their entire staffs. It's a tough week for our friends at New Line and Paramount.

It's not in the ScreenPlayLab schedule yet, but ABC Fellowship director Frank Gonzalez will be back to speak to us some weeknight in April in Hollywood. One of our most popular speakers, last year we filled a 200-seat theater to hear him. This year we'll be presenting Frank in a 300-seat theater. I'll also schedule a mixer sometime soon. We won't be back at Raleigh Studios until the end of April.

COMEDY WALK on March 13th...

I'm executive producing six simultaneous 90-minute live stage shows happening at the Downtown Comedy Club and five other nearby venues on March 13th. As you know, I've been co-hosting ScreenPlayLab for almost three years. COMEDY WALK is an ambitious live production (9 hours worth of material in one night) and is video-taped.

COMEDY WALK is an opportunity for ScreenPlayLab members to work on a show with me, and for us to go beyond lectures, screenings and networking events. It's also a place to see rising talent in the comedy world. I urge you to think about supporting COMEDY WALK as audience, production volunteer, or sponsor. It's an amazing show. Thursday, Mar. 13, 8:30pm-10pm, downtown Los Angeles.
